"Make Yourself Hard"

One of my favourites 'Sir Alex Ferguson' the manager of the football club Manchester United said in many of his encounters with the press that all the players mature at the age of 24 or 25. Most of the players will be in top form at these ages. But some of the players will get matured before 24 like Messi, Christiano Ronaldo. Both of them are world class players. You know players will be in peak form when they get matured. This applies to the people in other professions. You can see a sudden rise in the curve when you draw a graph between career life time and performance.

I don't know how to define maturity exactly. It is very difficult to get matured in all the aspects of life. But, getting maturity in his/her owns profession is very important. See in the case of Messi and Christiano Ronaldo, they are hardcore professional football players. They got all the fame in football. I don't think so both of them matured in other aspects. Sometimes they act really weird inside the ground as well as outside. Some people say those are all some tactics in football. I don't believe it. I'm not criticizing them. Everyone have their own preference. I'm just taking a situation. They don't have control over their emotions.

The first step to get matured in the profession is to have control over the emotions regarding the profession. The profession may be a student or businessman or government officer or anything. According to me, profession means it the thing we can't get rid of it under any circumstances and at the same time it will support us financial. There is no right or wrong action in the profession. That means we can do whatever we want to do in order to achieve the objectives of the profession. I'm going to talk about two extremes a cop and a robber. One is ethical and other is unethical. Their objectives are different. One thing common between them is both are professionals in their own way.

According to me maturity means contemplating about their profession so that they can move fast in their career. When people get matured, they feel the change. They feel like that they have a backup to help them. It's like having a third hand. They are more confident before. They start believe themselves.

I have seen people who matured earlier in their life time. That's really good and I appreciate it. I read somewhere mostly women get matured earlier than men. It may be true. Sometimes people become matured due to spontaneous failure fission reaction (a chain of failures). When they fail, that embarrassment happened to them due to failure made them hard like rock so that no one can break them. Some are gifted naturally.

Think, all boys seek for matured girls and all girls seek for matured boys, professors seek for matured students, coach seeks for matured players, boss seeks for matured sub-ordinate. Matured people only can handle uncertainties and they can perform under pressure.

According to Al Ries and Jack Trout, in business the first movers always have the advantage. Same thing, person who matures earlier always has the upper hand. She/he will have their hands nearer to the ripened fruit.

'Stars' are not "SMALL"

"Nothing is simple unless we try it and practice it". Philosophical but true. But "Everything is simple if you have right people". It's reality.

The hardest lesson I learnt in the last two days was "For finishing any project successfully, it's not about intelligent people or talented people. It's all about having people with PASSION, WILLINGNESS, DEDICATION, CONTROL and PERSUASION". If we have people who have all these five, they should be intelligent and talent. As Sun Tzu said “If you know about your enemies and yourself, no need to afraid of hundred battles. You can win 100 battles without a single loss". Like that, "If you know about your people and the project what you want to do, you will finish 100 projects without any failure".

It is very difficult to find people with all these five features. Why anyone work for us? This was the question striking my head again and again for the past two days. Is it money? Is it recognition? It may be. But, there is something apart from these two which drives people to work for us. I don't know what is it? That makes the people to follow you.

A day before, I had a situation during my college fest. I had to conduct a round in an event. It required minimum 10 people. I made arrangement for 10 people. But, unfortunately during that day of the fest due to some unavoidable circumstances 6 people were not there. I was hopeless. I didn't have any contingency plans. I didn't know what to do. I thought that why did I take responsibility for conducting that event. I just called some of my friends to come and work for the event. I don't believe that people will come and work for me. But what a miracle, they came and finished the work what I gave for them. I still don't understand why did they come? It may be because of the good relationship with them. The best part was they gave their 100% contribution.

The most vital part is the people who are with us should understand us and our emotions. There should not be any attitude clash. Both of their thinking should act in tandem. If we have right people, even though we get angry them, they won't reflect back the anger towards us. You receive only positive vibes from them. Right people in the sense means the skills of the people should correlate with the project skill. Along with it, we need the five elements that mentioned above.

Another important thing, there is a vast difference between saying and doing. If you say in management language, there is a vast difference between planning and execution. Without planning we can't straightly get into execution part. Planning is like saying some weird thing we have to do this, that thing. That's all speaking in air. Sometimes it may like a framework in paper. But if we started doing those things, they don't align with the plan. There will be a mismatch. Anyone can plan. At least we can say something like do this, don't do this. It may fit or may not. Before two days, I was in planning side.  This execution part is GOD DAMN TUFF.

My opinion is a planner may or mayn't be a good executor but an executor will be a good planner. An executor knows what will go wrong. What you say???????

Do I seem like a 'PAWN'?

What do you infer from the figure which in the left side? Everyone see it as a pawn which is the least powerful piece in chess. But, do you know the speciality of the pawn? If it moves forward and reaches the other side i.e., 8th rank, it turns into a powerful piece. The most powerful piece is Queen. This tiny pawn conceals its intentions. It portraits itself as the least powerful piece in the initial stages of the game. But its real intention is to become a powerful piece. It shows its real image when no one expects.

"CONCEAL YOUR INTENTIONS"

The above dynamic phrase is one of my favourite phrases. Actually, I took it from the book named "48 laws of power". It is a wonderful book but a bit philosophical. "Conceal your intentions" is one of the 48 laws of power.

This phrase doesn't seem to be an interesting one but a very powerful weapon. Everyone who is so much passionate about their life, career or destiny should own it. Potentially, this creates a virtual barrier around us so that it portraits us an 'UNPREDICTABLE" animal. If anything in the universe is predictable, there is no interest in it. There is a complete absence of curiosity. No more heat, blood pumping, eye brow rising or visibility of hard veins in our body.

My belief regarding this phrase is whether we want to do something good or bad, don't reveal our intentions to anyone. Not all the times but in few crucial occasions, it creates chaos. We can't do what we intent to do. Sometimes, it may leads to criticisms. We people hate critics. These intelligent people (critics) lower our self-esteem and move us to the tail of the queue.

Take an example of a boy. If his girlfriend is so predictable, he will lose his interest on her. Vice versa is also true. If a boy is so predictable, his girlfriend will lose her interest on him. This is not only applicable to a boy and a girl. It is applicable to a manager and a subordinate, a coach and a player etc..,

I'm not saying here that every time we should conceal our intentions. Sometimes in order to nurture our relationship, we have to reveal our intentions. Otherwise, it will create a gap in the relationships. Some of the intentions should be like the treasure which is deep under the ocean not like the garbage floating above the water. People search for that treasure. It creates curiosity among them. They will come for us.

If we are like the garbage floating in the ocean, it makes the insane people to form a belief or conclusion about us. We have to portrait ourselves us like a puzzle which is unsolvable and make others to burn their heads to solve. Even though we are the garbage, we should be the garbage which is inside the treasure. This makes hard for people to create some conclusions about us so quickly.

Our intention should be a problem not to be the answer for the problems. If we reveal our intention, it makes the game easy for others. We are here to make our others life tuff, aren't we?

Intention is like a rain drop inside the oyster shell. It should be kept safely inside the oyster shell until it turns to a pearl
If we are mad and greedy, we won't get the precious pearl. You people know what do we get?

Note: The concept 'Conceal your intentions' is taken from '48 laws of power' by 'Robert Greene'

To Stay Animated - "Stamina Matters"

Everyone watched the match played by Swiss Tennis Maestro 'Roger' and Indian cricket wall 'Dravid'. Apart from their sensible playing, the important thing which I'm curious or interested about is their "STAMINA". Both of them are really cool. Even after playing for a long time their make-up will not change. There is no new moon when they are in ground. You will always see a full moon.

Take Roger, his energy level while entering the court will be same as that of the energy level while coming out of the court i.e., when the match gets over, he doesn't seem like exhausted. His play doesn't seem like a sinusoidal wave. There are no ups and downs. Always it seems like a direct current graph (straight line-constant). Tennis is the battle of endurance. In a grand slam, a player has to play minimum 3 sets and maximum 5 sets. A player should not go to an excitation state when he wins a set and should not bury himself when he loses a set. He has to be consistent in his attitude, energy level and focus. If there is any fall or rise in any one of these three, he will be under the control of the opponent.

One of my professors gave us the difference between 'a sprint' and 'a marathon'. In a sprint, the person who finishes the race first is the winner but in case of marathon the persons who finish the race are winners. Similarly, our life is not a sprint with only one winner. It's a god damn marathon. We have to sustain the race for prolonged duration until we reach our destiny.

Small victories in our journey are like the energy drink which will be given in between the race. We have to decide how much we are going to taste the drink. If we drink above the limit, it becomes a burden. Sometimes, it makes us walk. It extends the race duration. Spoils our consistency. Here comes the endurance. Unless and until we motivate ourselves, it's really hard to reach our destiny. Stamina really matters to maintain a constant motion.

Since life is a marathon no need to consider or care about the stupid souls who are competing with us. My opinion is to track their performance while you are crossing them or will be crossed by them. Everyone is a winner boss. If the guy who is competing with you buys a Lamborghini Reventon at the age of 35 then you may buy that car at 38 or 39.

I have seen people who had the sinusoidal attitude while running in a marathon. Why do I want to point out someone else? Take me. I had sinusoidal attitude. When someone overtook me, all the energy in my whole body gets consolidated in my legs and I started running fast. I felt good when I was overtaking someone. But, what's the use? After a certain period of time, I felt beat. Then, everything ended in disaster.

Same thing is applicable in our life also. Like all Tom, Dick and Harry say "Have a vision in your life".

Some may argue that why can't we finish the race with high speed without getting exhausted. It's possible, only if you are naturally gifted or have inherent talent.
